A Guide to the Salma's Kitchen Menu
Salma’s Kitchen serves Armenian food with a Middle Eastern infusion: grilled kababs, marinated chicken, hand-rolled kibbe, fresh salads, and dips made from scratch. If this is your first time ordering from us here in the Fraser Valley, this guide walks you through the whole menu and points you to the dishes we are best known for.
Everything is cooked the way we cook at home, with ingredients we buy from local Abbotsford and Fraser Valley farms whenever we can.
What comes off the grill?
This is the heart of what we do. Every grilled dish comes two ways: as a sandwich, or as a full meal with fragrant rice, salad, and your choice of dip (hummus, baba ganoush, or muhammara).
- Kabab. Juicy, tender, expertly seasoned and grilled over the flame. A mouth-watering blend of spices in every bite.
- Shish Tawook. Chicken breast marinated in spices and grilled until smoky and tender, served with our signature dip. Not sure which to order? Read Shish Tawook or Kabab.
- Toshka. A beloved Syrian dish: crispy and golden outside, warm minced meat and spices within. More on what toshka is.
- Sujuk. A spiced Armenian beef sausage with crisp veggies and our secret sauce. Here is the story of sujuk.
- Vegetarian. Grilled vegetables with rice, salad, and your choice of dip.
- Kibbe. Our signature. Ground beef, bulgur wheat, onions, and hand-picked spices, four pieces with rice and salad. Learn why kibbe is our signature.
What salads do you make?
Bright, fresh, and dressed simply in lemon juice and olive oil.
- Tabouli. Parsley, tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions, infused with mint.
- Armenian Salad. Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions with herbs.
What dips can you take home?
Our dips are made from scratch and packed by the half kilo, so you can take the flavour home with you.
- Muhammara. A roasted red pepper dip with pomegranate molasses. Read what makes muhammara special.
- Hummus. Creamy mashed chickpeas with tahini, lemon, and garlic.
- Baba Ganoush. Smoky and velvety, made from roasted eggplant.
What do you pour to drink?
The drinks that belong beside a kabab: creamy Ayran, deep-red Hibiscus Tea, and fresh mint Lemonada. Here is a guide to our drinks.
How do you order?
We prepare everything fresh, so we ask that you order ahead for pickup. Browse the full menu, then head to our order page to call or message us. Larger dip and catering-size orders are always welcome with a little notice, and the catering service area list sets out where we deliver, beginning with Abbotsford itself.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of food does Salma's Kitchen serve?
Armenian food with a Middle Eastern infusion: grilled kababs, marinated shish tawook, hand rolled kibbe, toshka, sujuk, fresh salads and dips made from scratch. Everything is cooked the way we cook at home, with local Fraser Valley ingredients whenever we can.
What is Salma's Kitchen best known for?
Kibbe is our signature: ground beef, bulgur wheat, onions and hand picked spices, served four pieces to a meal with rice and salad. The grill items, especially kabab and shish tawook, are the other dishes people come back for.
Does Salma's Kitchen have vegetarian options?
Yes. The vegetarian meal is grilled vegetables with rice, salad and your choice of dip, and beyond that the tabouli, Armenian salad and all three dips are meat free. A vegetarian eats a full meal here, not a side.
Can you buy the dips to take home?
Yes. All three dips, hummus, baba ganoush and muhammara, are made from scratch and packed by the half kilo for pickup, so you can keep them in the fridge all week. Larger dip orders for parties are welcome with a little notice.
Do you need to order ahead from Salma's Kitchen?
Yes, please order ahead for pickup, because we prepare everything fresh rather than holding food in a warmer. Everyday orders need only a little notice, and catering sized orders need a bit more. Call us through the order page and we will sort out timing together.
